467th BG Association Visit

On September 23 we had the honor of hosting the 467th Bomb Group Association for a memorial dedication ceremony and base tour as part of their annual reunion. A number of attendees had fathers and other relatives who trained in Wendover as part of the original 467th BG contingent – a B-24 group that trained here from November 1943 through February 1944. We were honored to hear from speakers of various backgrounds as we remembered and honored the 15,500 men and women who lost their lives in Army Air Force aviation training and transit accidents throughout World War II. Soon we will have a beautiful, and painstakingly crafted B-24 model that will serve as a memorial to those lost aircrews, which includes members of the 467th Bomb Group.
We are grateful for the efforts of the 467th Bomb Group Association for keeping the history of the group and the Army Air Force in general alive and accessible.
